frequently asked questions

1. What types of weapons do you teach?

Answer: We teach four fundamental weapons - staff, spear, straight sword and broadsword. Students are eligible for weapons training after reaching the rank of purple belt. We offer instruction in a variety of optional weapons for our advanced students, as well.

2. How many belts are there?

Answer: At our school we recognize 9 belt ranks in the Kung  Fu program. Belt ranks progress as follows:  White, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Blue, Green, Red, Brown, Black

3. How long will it take for me to get to black belt?

Answer: The journey to black belt varies from student to student. There is no time requirement, but students should know that achieving their black belt is a journey that takes multiple years. Progression through belt ranks is dependent on a student's commitment to training at home and in class.

Kung Fu truly refers to a skill gained through time and effort.  While achieving the rank ofblack belt is a significant achievement, it helps to view it as a stop on the journey rather than the destination. There is plenty to continue learning after the rank of black belt.
